QIADP
The Queensland Indigenous Alcohol Diversion Program has been
designed for two groups of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
people:
i) Those charged with an offence where alcohol has been a
contributing factor (Criminal Justice stream)
ii) Parents whose alcohol use makes them unable to adequately
protect their children (Child Safety stream)
The PuP program has been working with the QIADP team and the
agencies to train QIADP clinical staff in the PuP model of
treatment. These clinicains are then able to use the PUP program
with those people diverted from the criminal justice system or
referred to the QIADP program from Child Safety.
QIADP is being piloted over three years in Rockhampton/Woorabinda, Townsville/Palm Island and Cairns/Yarrabah. The PuP/QIADP co ordinator is Moana Harlen (m.harlen@griffith.edu.au). More information on the QIADP project is available at http://www.health.qld.gov.au/atods/programs/qiadp.asp
